Gilbert McGloan Gillis Saint John, NB On June 1, 2002, Gilbert, McGloan, Gillis converted its accounting program from MANAC to Lighthouse. The conversion went very smoothly and with very few problems. All trust history, outstanding accounts/receivable and GL balances were transferred to Lighthouse without any errors. Lighthouse is very user friendly while MANAC is not. There are on-screen help pages and tech support is literally only a phone call away. When you get an error in Lighthouse, your problem is solved for you on-line. We dreaded having to call MANAC with an error because they would give you instructions on how to repair your problem and told you to "let them know if it doesn't work". The time spent creating invoices has been greatly reduced. Once you set up your billing formats, Lighthouse will produce your bills for you. If there is a need to edit your invoice, the procedure is much easier and faster than in MANAC. While completing month-end reports, there is no backlog of next month work to complete. Lighthouse has special routines that allow you to continue processing daily work even though your month-end is not finished. The same goes for year-end. Journals are still posted to the GL for the new year even though the GL has not been closed for the previous year. In MANAC, the GL integration feature had to be turned off until your year-end closing entries were entered. Then you had to manually enter any journals you had for the new year. We have just completed our year-end and Dave Fullerton was especially helpful when it came to designing special reports for our auditors. Obviously, we are extremely satisfied with our new software and have no regrets. Throughout that period of time, David Fullerton has been providing support for that program. In describing what David Fullerton has done for us, the use of the word "support" seems too narrow. Over the years, David has ensured not only that the program runs effectively and efficiently, but he also made many changes to it in order to customize the program to our particular needs. We have found the combination of Lighthouse and ProvideX to be extremely efficient over our network. Even though the server exists in Saint John, our offices in other cities can use Lighthouse in a fast and user-friendly windowed environment. We have found David to be extremely cooperative and of great assistance when we have decided to change our network configurations to make use of new technologies. David has responded quickly to ensure that Lighthouse kept working across the network. Although we have only rarely experienced problems with this very stable program, DL Fullerton Programming and Consulting Inc. has always responded quickly to correct these problems.
